Having a sore throat can be a really disturbing experience especially when it’s going on for days. At times, instead of it getting better as the days go by, they sometimes get worse. 1.     Gargling with warm salt water

This is probably the first thing you will hear most people say to you if you complain of sore throat, especially around old people. The truth is that they are actually very right. Warm salt water works very well against sore throats. The salt in the water helps with the inflammation in your throat and make it to shrink thereby giving you a relief. It washes away excess mucous and if you have a stuffy nose, it will help your stuffy nose to drain properly.

One cup of warm (not hot) water and half teaspoon of table salt will be enough. Pour the salt in the hot water, mix it with a clean spoon, and make sure the salt is well dissolved in the warm water. Gargle the warm water throughout the day. Just make sure the salt and water mixture is not more than stipulated so as not to worsen matters.

2.     Garlic!

I know this is going to sound repulsive considering garlic’s reputation for bad odors. Not everyone is a big fan of garlic, but if you want fast relief from your sore throat, you really need garlics. At least till the sore throat completely heals. Garlic contains allicin which is the active ingredient against sore throat. It acts very fast and it is very powerful too.

In order to make garlics useful for your sore throat, you can slowly chew two garlic or suck on them while biting them lightly in order to release the allicin. Whatever method you choose, allicin will be released from the garlic and your sore throat will be packing off! Simply suck on two garlics twice a day.

3.     Drink ginger

Ginger has a lot of pain relieving properties and it works excellently against cold too. Since most sore throats and cold commonly appear together, drinking ginger is a good way of combating the two! Ginger also boosts circulation, expels toxins and speeds up the healing process. Its anti-inflammatory properties will also help to relief the soreness in your throat.

All you will need is a two-inch long fresh ginger root, honey and 2-3 cups of water.

You need to Wash the ginger root really thoroughly, then you have to peel it. Slice it into really tiny pieces, then you place it on a cutting board and cover it with some wax paper. After that, crush it with anything you have that can be used for that purpose. I’m sure you will find something. The next thing is to boil your water boil for about 3 to 5 minutes. You can also add some honey or sugar if you need, but I prefer it “natural”, without adding anything.

4.     Drink cinnamon

The truth is that you should avoid spicy foods when your throat hurts, but there are actually some spices that are handy when fighting the illness. One of them is ginger (which I already talked about) another one is cinnamon which is a home remedy that helps relieve some of the pain of a sore throat especially if it is the result of a cold. It is extremely high in anti-oxidants, and its aroma often times helps to open up the sinuses, which lessens the production of mucus and helps you breathe a little easier.

All you will need is: 1-2 cinnamon sticks, 1 and a half cups of boiling water and any herbal green tea of your choice. Honey could come in handy too.

Bring water to a boil and add the cinnamon. Boil for about 2-3 minutes, and then remove the cinnamon. Add your choice of herbal or green tea in the cinnamon water, drink, and enjoy!

This allows gases to pass through the charcoal and interact with the exposed carbon. It can somehow “trap” chemicals. It works by absorbing chemicals, thus reducing their toxicity (poisonous nature), through the entire length of the stomach and small and large intestines (GI tract). The same way it can absorb various swallowed poisons, it can also absorb gas created by bacteria in our intestines.

Activated charcoal is used mostly to treat poisoning, reduce flatulence (gas), lower your cholesterol levels, treat bile flow problems and also it can prevent hangovers.
